In May of 2018, I had a call from Julie about creating the invitations for her Labor Day weekend wedding. She loved one of our existing invitation suites and wanted to customize the invitation to be her very own.
A fully custom invitation is wonderful, but it can be just as much fun to add custom elements to an existing suite to bring in your own personality. Julie did just this! The invitation was our Summer Sailboat wedding suite. Julie selected the reply card from our Lighthouse invitation, and for the rehearsal dinner invitation, we used the Adirondack Chairs enclosure card. We also did a custom illustrated Schedule of Events to include in the invitation.
The guest envelope was addressed with digital calligraphy. In fact, I had been planning on reformatting one of our most popular digital calligraphy fonts, and did it right in time to send out Julie and Bryan's invitations. So, appropriately, I named this new font Julie! The guest envelope and the reply envelope had a red lobster for artwork. Of course we couldn't forget the custom stamp! We used the Salty Air design for our special postage.
When it came time for the wedding day paper goods, Julie had some great ideas! She wanted to incorporate some white hydrangeas in the mix....as you can see from the beautiful photos, there are a lot of white hydrangeas on the property at the Chatham Bars Inn. The menus, programs, escort cards, and table numbers all featured a special design that I did just for this couple....using white and blue hydrangeas, blueberries, and boughs of greenery.
The program had another special feature. I always recommend that my couples use the program as a place to recognize family members who have gone before them. Penny, their special pet had a little illustration in the Loving memory section.
We did signage for the signature drink, instagram, and the photo booth guest book too! Place cards for the head table, place cards for the rehearsal dinner, and favor tags and napkins with sailboats were another few special items we were happy to create-all using Julie font of course!
This wedding is a great example of taking some existing designs and really making the suite your own! And although the hydrangea motif was not on the invitation, that design choice tied in perfectly with the wedding day. All of our artwork really goes with each other, so it's a great way to be harmonious without being 100% "matching".
