Autumn Wedding on the New Hampshire Seacoast
We work with clients all over the country, but we always enjoy working with a stunning local venue like Wentworth by the Sea Country Club. This autumn wedding was really custom from start to finish. The bride, Liz, reached out to me in the winter before the October wedding, and our first order of business was creating a custom Save the Date featuring our Portsmouth map. This piece really kicked off the wedding vibe of using watercolor on all the special details that were to come. I hand addressed the guest envelope, and we also included some special tugboat artwork on the envelope.
I painted some special custom floral designs after the bride sent me some photos of the flowers that would be used by Drinkwater Flowers. We incorporated those into a monogram with autumn leaves at the top of the invitation. The other invitation pieces included a reply card with fun food illustrations and a soft border with organic elements. The outer envelope had leaves in the bottom corner, a custom golden retriever stamp, and of course, we did a custom map with an illustrated schedule of events listed on the back of that insert. The map included the city of Portsmouth and some of the fun features of this beautiful area, and of course included the tent where the wedding reception took place at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club.
The mother of the groom wanted to have me create a custom rehearsal dinner invitation with the Portsmouth skyline. I did a painting that we used as this special invitation. The envelope had a tugboat printed on it, to carry through the tugboat theme from the Save the Date card.
The wedding day presented some more opportunities to feature some of our custom artwork. The programs and menus featured the couple's special hand painted flowers. Each of the menus had the guest's name written in silver calligraphy in lieu of a place card. We did a signature drink sign with a painting of the couple's beloved golden retriever too. Using the monogram with leaf and floral border, I created a tag for the syrup favors, and a thank you note.
Of course, my favorite part of the wedding day paper goods was the hand painted seating chart. This chart featured a custom watercolor painting of the view from the wedding venue at the bottom. At the top, we had hand painted flowers that were similar to the flowers that were on the invitation. This special piece of artwork was then framed and the couple is enjoying it to this day in their home.
All the best to you both, Liz and Grayson! We wish you all the happiness in the world!
