Tropical Invitation for a Newport, RI Wedding
In 2006, about a year after moving to New Hampshire, I had a great opportunity to start a job as a flight attendant at Jet Blue. One of the first people who I met there was my friend, Debbie! I was so honored that when it came time for her daughter's wedding invitations, she reached right out to me! Working with Tia and Matt to create the custom stationery for their wedding day was such a special part of 2018. Our communication began in the summer of 2017 when Tia, Debbie, and I had a great phone conversation about Save the Dates. I started mulling over Tia's vision for all of her paper goods.
The colors were great...greens and purple with a hint of soft yellow. Our first item was the Save the Date. I created a map of Newport, Rhode Island in the couple's colors to be the first glimpse of the wedding their guests would see. Bob addressed the envelopes using the digital Brianna font.
Tia was using monstera leaves as part of the wedding decor, along with ferns and orchids. As with all custom invitations, I first created the paintings and then put together a few options for Tia and Matt. We met and they selected their invitation designs and calligraphy font to be used on the guest envelopes. We did a monstera leaf stamp for the outer envelope of the invitation. There was a soft hint of a yellow border on the invitation and reply card, with a purple border within.
The wedding day paper goods were created especially for the couple. Of course, the seating chart is always my favorite piece! This is such a wonderful way to honor your guests. That piece was decorated with Tia and Matt's custom artwork. Each of the table signs had different artwork on them...and the tables were named from some of the couple's favorite spots in Newport.
The couple used the same Newport map as a "sign in board". We enlarged it and put it in one of our signature barn wood frames. Then the guests signed the map and wished the couple well! This piece was in lieu of a guest book. We created some other signage for the bar and Cards too.
It was truly a pleasure working with Tia and Matt!! And seeing the photos of such a beautiful day makes me smile! This couple was really a delight. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. And I thank my good friend, Debbie, for trusting me with this most special of projects.
A note from Tia, the beautiful bride: We felt taken care of every step of the way! You completely understood our vision and blew us away. Everything you designed felt personal and not only fit the style of our wedding, but our personalities. Our guests are STILL talking about the save the date and the invitations. Our favorite part of the process was being able to meet with you and see the different options for the final invitations, seating chart, and other day of stationery details. The stationery is something we will be able to save in our album forever along with being able to hang our seating chart and 'guest book' in our home. You made the process no-stress and fun for us. Words can not express our gratitude for your hard work on making our vision come to life from the first touch with the save the date to the last with the thank you notes.
